Discovering My Passion Again

Last summer I woke up with a throbbing headache, racing heart and anxiety. Just looking around my room, I’m overwhelmed with all my stuff. Every object in the room screaming for my attention. My desk full of mail to open and bills to pay. Laundry to be done. Books to be read. Clothes to be hung. Dusting and vacuuming. Collages to make dreams come true. Just too much stuff to do that my body and brain are completely paralyzed.

Divine Intervention

Forward a week later, I’m rushing to get my little niece, Lily, to her swimming lesson and I’m dressed in tennis clothes and a hat (my uniform these days). I’m chatting about Lily’s progress and somewhere in the conversation Lily’s instructor, Natalie mentions that she works as a “stylist” for an online retail store when she’s not in the pool teaching. I ask her about styling white pants. She says to go on Pinterest and search “white pants” and you’ll see a ton of different styles and ways to wear them.

As I’m waiting for Lily to finish her swim lesson (she’s finally able swim across the pool), I start my research. Hours later I discover Capsule Wardrobes and The KonMari Method. I’m hooked. I’m officially simplifying my life. Living only with the things that bring me “joy” and fill my heart.

Coming Home

I love how Pinterest brought me back to my childhood and my passion for organizing, design, and simplicity. I know through the years we find other interests, but I’m a big believer that whatever it is that we truly love, we always return to it.
