Happy New Year 2017

It’s my first blog of the year and it’s already January 17.

I wanted my first blog of the year to be special and perfect, but perfect comes from being imperfect. Trying to make things perfect causes a lot of procrastination. I’ve gone back and forth on what to post, so I ended up posting nothing.

From a spiritual perspective, perfection is not about being perfect, but rather “it’s perfect as it is.”

My son is graduating from high school this year and the last part of 2016 was spent on college applications and tours. For weeks, he worked on his essays…revising, editing, etc. Eventually, he had to say “it’s perfect as it is” and push the submit button.

If you’re creating lifestyle changes and have already fallen off the wagon, give yourself a break and just get back on it again. Don’t get down or criticize yourself, just push yourself forward. Your dreams and desires are just in front of you, but only if you keep moving.

As for me, I’m just going to keep plugging away. Eventually, I’ll get to where I want to go and end up where I’m suppose to be.

Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist:

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

“The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”
